The complete Karakoram circuit crossing the dramatic 5,585m technical col into Hushe Valley
The remote traverse across the longest non-polar glacial corridor on earth via Hispar La (5,151m)
Every Karakoram route demands respect. Use this side-by-side comparison of terrain, technical requirements, and acclimatization profiles to choose the journey tailored to your alpine experience.
Best for: Trekkers with solid endurance wanting pure focus on Concordia and K2 without technical climbing gear. Retraces the Baltoro Glacier back to Askole, providing the lowest weather risk and highest schedule reliability.
Best for: Experienced alpine hikers seeking a true traverse. Adds a midnight ascent with crampons and fixed safety ropes across the 5,585m pass into Hushe, with iconic sunrise panoramas over Laila Peak.
Best for: Wilderness purists wanting remote solitude. Crosses a 100km unpeopled glacial corridor from Baltistan to Nagar/Hunza with roped glacier travel across vast crevasse basins and Hispar La (5,151m).
Trekking to K2 Base Camp (5,150m) is a non-technical wilderness trek along glacial moraine. It does not involve scaling K2’s Abruzzi Ridge, oxygen cylinders, or extreme vertical mountaineering. In contrast, Gondogoro La (5,585m) introduces a technical high-pass col requiring crampons and fixed ropes, while Snow Lake (5,151m) requires roped glacier travel across vast crevasse basins.

It is a strenuous, non-technical high-altitude trek. Strong endurance is required for long days on uneven glacial moraine, but no climbing experience is required for the classic return route.
The main trekking window runs from mid-June to early September. July and August generally provide the most stable conditions for high passes and glacier travel.
Restricted-zone treks require government permissions and CKNP entry documentation. We process these after booking and provide the documents needed for your tourist visa application.
You must carry travel insurance that explicitly covers trekking and emergency evacuation to the maximum altitude of your chosen route.
